Agüimes, typical Canarian town

Agüimes is a town in the center of Gran Canaria where we can see how the houses in the Canary Islands were in these last two centuries. The historical center is formed by several houses recently restored and painted that make up a very careful set and in which the Canarian essence is breathed, lately softened by the immigration of both the peninsula and South America, especially in the capital. One of the most interesting visits in the municipality of Agüimes is to stroll through the streets of the historic center, where we can discover a real open-air museum with sculptures and a cultural heritage that tells us about traditions and characters related to the place.
The church of the city is the one of San Sebastian, although the church and convent of the city was the Our Lady of the Snows that was burned two centuries ago in a fire and disappeared.

Of Agüimes it emphasizes the Episcopal Palace and the Center of Interpretation of the Historical Helmet where we can learn the evolution of materials and architectures within the city. The city is full of statues of different historical figures or tools or events that took place.
Near the city is the Guayadeque ravine that houses one of the best natural treasures of the island.
